PlanetScale Metal runs our application’s core data layer on blazing-fast NVMe SSDs in a redundant, three-node HA cluster. It sits next door to our ClickHouse-based analytics engine powered by Tinybird, able to answer complex queries and slice through millions of anonymized rows in milliseconds without breaking a sweat. Critically, for both speed and compliance, both data stores are hosted within the EU – and your data never leaves it.

But it’s Cloudflare’s global edge network and newly introduced edge cache for Workers that make new levels of performance possible, executing the majority of our redirects extremely close to the physical location of the request. Their Hyperdrive connection pooling also keeps a line to our data layer warm, so even the rare cache-miss lookup is fast and self-healing.
